Professional Opinions of Value

An appraisal is essentially an opinion of value based on proper identification and valuation within a specific market context and for a particular purpose. This process requires several tasks:

  • The identification of the property, in terms of its origin, artist, form, style, materials, size, and other physical characteristics.
  • The application of expertise in determining the quality, relative importance and history of the artwork, also known as connoisseurship.
  • The consideration of the marketplace for that object.
  • Valuing it for the purpose intended.

Paintings Since 1989, Anderson Fine Art Appraisals has prepared professional appraisal reports for collectors, estates, attorneys, CPAs, museums and institutions.
